The Property

Our village home was built before 1900; records were not kept before this time, so it is impossible to know exactly how old the structure is. In its many years on the main street of Vila-Rodona, it has been a family home, a pharmacy, a grocery, and a bakery. After sitting empty for nearly 40 years, four friends came together to start a new chapter in 2022. We have tried to bring the original character and beauty of the house to life again. We began by removing much of the 70s-era renovation and repurposing as many of the doors, windows, and building materials as possible. We were delighted to find all of the original beams under false ceilings, and many stone and brick walls beneath the plaster. Then we modernized with new wiring, plumbing, and insulation, and finally created thoughtful, intentional spaces where rustic hominess meets modern amenities and technology. “Vermut al Terrat” translates literally to “vermouth on the rooftop;” a nod to a favorite local pastime and quintessential Vila-Rodona experience.

Our vision is simple: a beautiful space to enjoy life in good company. To this end, we have created three completely independent spaces and many shared amenities to come together for work, relaxation, and inspiration.

Sauna & Relaxation

We offer a 2-person infrared sauna in our “mini spa,” which adjoins a compact courtyard lightwell with built-in meditation nook, lush plants, and a water feature. Try a 15-minute session after an active day or bring a book down to enjoy a longer break to recharge and revitalize.

Loft-style living room with wooden beams, bookshelves, a brown sofa, ladder, easel, and a loft bed.

The Canopy

On the top floor of the property, or the “Canopy,” residents are welcome to work, craft, study, or create at our massive wood table. The media corner (below our cat-walk bookshelves) is the perfect spot to project any streaming entertainment onto the wall, relax on the oversized couch, or gather around the table for games and puzzles. The “Air Plant” loft has a futon and traditional secretary desk for additional meeting and office space and/or naptime. The Canopy also has a full bathroom, to allow for entertaining outside of personal spaces.

Rooftop Terrace

Finally, the “Terrat” is perched over the rooftops in the center of the village. With unobstructed views of the church clock tower, vineyards, and the Vila-Rodona castle, it is a magical place to enjoy at any time of day (or night). We have a brazier for evening fires, a barbecue for afternoon picnics, chairs for basking under the bright Spanish sun, and cocktail tables for your afternoon Vermut al Terrat.

Local Food, Wine, & Spirits

Wine and vermouth making has been part of the agricultural and commercial history of this area for hundreds of years. Within a few kilometers, you have the opportunity to purchase wine, vermouth, and beer directly from the producers. Embrace the local tradition of small bites (tapas) and slow down to take in the sunshine and friendly neighbors.
